I did it! I got to the roof of Africa. You can read all about it here http://www.glamoraks.com/blog/climbing-kilimanjaro-day-1-machame-route-machame-gate-to-machame-camp
Here's why I put myself through it all and why I would love any final donations to this worthy cause:
A few years ago, my friend Rona fell off her horse while playing polo. She broke her neck. Doctors say she was lucky to have survived and that it was miraculous that she wasn't paralysed. It was the local Air Ambulance who saved her life and her ability to walk.
So when she asked me if I'd join her in putting that ability to walk into practice by climbing Kilimanjaro, I said yes. It was only once I started reading up about the altitude sickness that I realised what I'd let myself in for.....
By sponsoring me, you are helping me to raise money for the Thames Valley Air Ambulance.
You may not live in Thames Valley. I don't. I live in Yorkshire. But it doesn't matter where I live. Air ambulance services save lives. Without fundraising, many wouldn't be able to continue. And without them, lives would be lost.
So if you can spare a few pounds to help me help them, I would be hugely grateful. I really do appreciate your support.
